The Bosahan Woods Management Group engaged the support of Working Woodlands Cornwall to help in the development of a long term plan for the woods. This will make use of a template provided by the Forestry Commission – the Woodland Management Plan – with the aim that when complete it will be approved by the Forestry Commission. This will open the door to the possibility of further grants and maybe income under the government-run Countryside Stewardship scheme.
The plan has reached a draft stage and the intention is to present key aspects of it at a public meeting in the Tolmen Centre on Sunday 5th November. The woods management group wants to ensure that the local community is aware of what is proposed, and that people have had the opportunity to make comments and suggestions, and that all questions can be answered before the report reaches a final form.
The programme for the event is as follows:
9:30 am – 12:30 pm – Display of maps and documents relating to the proposed plan.
10:00 am – 11:00 am – Talk by Nick Jarvis of Working Woodlands Cornwall, who has been working with the Bosahan Woods Management Group to develop the plan. All questions very welcome.
11:30 am – 1:00 pm – Beginning at the Spar end of Well Lane, a guided walk in the woods led by Nick Jarvis, who will explain aspects of the proposed plan ‘in situ’.
